Rebecca remains true to all her characters, right up to the last page. You endure the misery and adore the cute moments and raw honesty, but you stay because you want the happy ending. There were a couple of times I nearly needed a bit more of a breather because it does get quite dark in spots, but I just couldn't keep my eyes away.
You feel you're in the room with her characters for everything. It comes with a rather appropriate content warning for good reason, so it's definitely important to check it out. I smiled, gasped, and very nearly ugly-cried with the characters. It wasn't my first dip into m/m relationships in books, but it was definitely my first into many of the serious issues surrounding teenage years and coming out (or not feeling safe to). Two days! I am usually a slow reader, but I was looking at my phone and reading Holding up the Sky whenever the smallest chance arose! To say it was a compelling read is an understatement. Let me start off by saying this ARC took me two days to read.
